Course content
Lectures: 1. IRS - Integrated Rescue System. 2. Cooperation of emergency units. 3. New concept of rescue services in the Czech Republic. 4. General principles and procedures of first aid. 5. Rescue chain, survival chain. 6. Legal responsibility, penal act 40/2009 Coll., failure to give first aid. 7. Immediately life-threatening conditions. Uncousciousness. Suffocation due to outer causes. Pulmonary arrest. Blood circulation arrest. Algorithm of urgent resuscitation of children / adults. Massive bleeding. 8. Potentially life-threatening conditions. Shock. Backbone and spinal cord injuries. Accident amputations. Eye injury. Closure of extremity artery. Spasm conditions. Injuries requiring special procedures. Injuries by electric current and electric discharge. Thermal damages. Chemical injuries. 9. Injuries by localization - organ systems. Head injury - cerebro-cranial injuries, consciousness malfunctions. Thorax injuries, pneumothorax. Abdomen injury. Motor system injuries. 10. Intoxications. Snakebite, insect bite, animal bite. CO, CO2 intoxications. Ethylene glycol intoxication. Mushroom intoxication. Alcohol poisoning. Petroleum product intoxication. Most frequent antidotes. 11. Drowning, birth, death. 12. Drug addictions. Classification of drugs by origin. Classification of drugs by effect. Classification of drugs by active ingredient. 13. 14. Mass disasters, catastrophes, classification of injured persons. Seminars, workshops: 1. Training of basic rescue manoeuvres. 2. Transport and transfer - by one, two rescuers, on stretchers. 3. Orientational assessment of patient's condition, positioning. 4. Bandaging and immobilization technique. 5. Wound treatment, arrest of bleeding. 6. Training of technique of airway clearance and UPV. 7. Training of outer heart massage. 8. Antishock measures, cooperation in urgent professional care. 9. First aid - snakebite, insect bite. 10. First aid - toxic plants. 11. First aid - current drug pallet. 12. Mass disasters, catastrophes, emergency call centre. 13. Action upon acute pain. 14. Training of right emergency call.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book)
Learning outcomes
Within the subject, the students will be familiarized with the principles of giving first aid in case of suddenly worsened health condition due to disease or injury and in immediately life-threatening conditions.
The students will be able to provide high-quality premedical first aid.

Oral examination, Student performance assessment

Requirement for granting the credit: 90% attendance to seminars, demonstration of participal skills, credit test
